Registered Live Births in Calapan City: 2022

 

 

More males were born than females

In 2022, more males (2,605 or 51.8 percent share) were born than females (2,425 or 48.2 percent share), resulting in a sex ratio of 107 males per 100 females at birth.

 

 

More births were timely registered

Out of the 5, 030 registered births, 4, 857 births or 96.6 percent were timely registered, of this, 2,510 births were males (51.7 ssspercent) and 2,347 births were females (48.3 percent). Conversely, a total of 173 or 3.4 percent of births were late registered, 95 births (54.9 percent) were males while 78 births (45.1 percent) were females.

 

 

Most number of births registered in September

In 2022, September had the greatest number of registered births, with 559, or 11.1 percent of all births. November, with 516 births (10.3 percent), and October, with 504 births (10.0 percent), came next. February, on the other hand, had the lowest number of births, with 331, or 6.6 percent.

 

 

 

Most of the births attended by Physician

Of the total number of births in Calapan City, 98.7 percent were attended by physicians. Meanwhile, 0.7 percent were delivered by someone other than a nurse, midwife, or traditional birth attendant.

 

 

Most births occurred in health facilities

In 2022, a higher percentage of births - 98.7 percent - than those that took place at home occurred in health facilities such as a hospital, birthing clinic, lying-in, outpatient care center, specialized care center, or the like. Meanwhile, 1.3 percent of newborns were delivered at home.

 

 

Majority of babies were born to mothers aged 25-29 years old

In 2022, mothers between the ages of 25 and 29 accounted for 1, 351 or 26.9 percent of all births registered in Calapan City. Furthermore, of the 1, 186 births in the city, or 23.6 percent of all births, were from the ages of 20-24 years old.

 

 

Six out of ten were illegitimate children

In 2022, most registered births were illegitimate children with a 2, 775 or 55.2 percent of the total births in Calapan City. On the other hand, legitimate children have a lower total number which are 2,255 or 44.8 percent of total births registered.

TECHNICAL NOTES

 

Live births shall be reported for registration to C/MCR not later than thirty (30) days from the date of birth.

Any report made to the LCROs beyond the reglementary period are considered late and can be entered only in the civil register after the informant complies with the requirements for delayed registration.

 

DEFINITION OF TERMS

 

Live birth is the complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a conception, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, which, after such separation, breaths or shows any other evidence of life such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such birth is considered live born.

Legitimate child is a child who is born to parents who are married to each other. This means that their parents are legally recognized as being married and the child is considered to be their lawful child. A legitimate child has certain legal rights and privileges that an illegitimate child may not have.
