BOAC, MARINDUQUE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) is set to conduct the 2025 National Migration Survey (NMS), from 04 August to 01 September 2025.
The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the 2025 NMS emanates from Republic Act (RA) No. 10625, also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which empowers the PSA to perform periodic censuses in various sectors of the economy. In addition, the conduct of the 2025 NMS was designated as statistical activities under Executive Order No. 87 – Updating of the List of Designated Statistical Activities That Will Generate Critical Data for Decision Making in the Government and the Private Sectors.
The 2025 NMS is the second nationwide conduct of the survey on migration, following the initial survey conducted in 2018 by the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI). The 2025 NMS is designed to provide information on the mobility of the Philippine population in order to assist policymakers and program managers in designing and evaluating strategies for improving services and assistance to Filipinos going abroad or within the country. Specifically, the survey is intended to provide information on international and internal migration flows and major migration streams, types of migration, and characteristics of migrants.
The PSA-Marinduque PSO will be sending out five Statistical Researchers (SRs) and one Team Supervisor (TS) to conduct personal interviews using the Computer-Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) with 389 sample households across the province.
The quality of the data collected is critical to the success of this survey. Hence, the PSA appeals to the sample households to cooperate in this undertaking by providing truthful, complete, and accurate information to the SRs.
Pursuant to Section 26 of RA No. 10625 (Confidentiality of Information) and Section 8 of RA No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act (Confidentiality), all data obtained herein shall be held strictly confidential, and will not be used for taxation, investigation, or law enforcement purposes.
