The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Marinduque conducted the First Quarter 2024 Redesigned Crops Production Survey (CrPS), for ten days covering the period March 14 to 24, 2024, including Saturdays and Sunday. The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the First Quarter 2024 CrPS emanates from Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which authorizes the PSA to prepare and conduct periodic censuses on various sectors of the economy.
The CrPS, is one of the major agricultural surveys conducted quarterly by the PSA that aims to generate estimates on volume of production, area planted/harvested, number of bearing hills/vines, and farmgate prices for crops other than palay and corn at national and sub-national levels. Starting third quarter of 2023, the new sampling design for CrPS was already adopted as per approved PSA Board Resolution No. 14, Series of 2023 entitled, “Approving and Adopting the New Sampling Design of the Crops Production Survey.”
Moreover, the CrPS also collects data on farmgate prices, which was previously collected in the Farm Prices Survey (FPS). For CrPS data collection, PSA-Marinduque hired four Statistical Researchers (SRs) to conduct personal interviews with 336 farmer-producers across the province and utilizes Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) instead of the Pen-and-Paper Personal Interview (PAPI).
PSA assures that SRs continue to strictly adhere to proper health protocols when dealing with respondents.
