The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) is currently conducting the January 2024 round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS), along with the 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 2 as its rider survey, from January 10 to 31, 2024. The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the these surveys emanate from Republic Act (RA) No. 10625, also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which empowers the PSA to perform periodic censuses in various sectors of the economy. In addition, the conduct of the LFS and the FIES were designated as statistical activities under Executive Order No. 352 - Designation of Statistical Activities That Will Generate Critical Data for Decision Making in the Government and the Private Sectors.
The LFS is a monthly household survey that measures the country's current labor market and is used, among other things, to calculate national and provincial employment and unemployment rates. This LFS round will be used to quantify the continuing effect of the pandemic crisis on labor and employment in the country.
The 2023 FIES V2 is a rider survey to the January 2024 LFS, which aims to gather data on family income and family living expenditure and related information affecting income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines; determine the sources of income and income distribution, levels of living and spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families; provide benchmark information to update weights in the estimation of Consumer Price Index (CPI); and provide inputs in the estimation of the country’s poverty threshold and incidence.
The PSA-Marinduque PSO will be sending out forty-nine (49) Statistical Researchers (SRs) and six (6) Team Supervisors (TS) to conduct personal interviews using the Computer-Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) with 1,533 sample households across the province.
The PSA appeals to the sample households to cooperate in these undertakings by providing truthful, complete, and accurate information to the SRs. The information gathered will ultimately serve as vital input in evidence-based planning and decision-making.
PSA assures that the SRs will continue to strictly adhere to proper health protocols when dealing with respondents. Pursuant to Section 26 of RA No. 10625 (Confidentiality of Information) and Section 8 of RA No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act (Confidentiality), all data obtained herein shall be held strictly confidential, and will not be used for taxation, investigation, or law enforcement purposes.
