Volume of Livestock Production

During the fourth quarter of 2024, the total volume of livestock production in Palawan was estimated at 18,636.89 metric tons, liveweight. It posted an increase of 2.89 percent from the 18,114.20 metric tons, liveweight production in the fourth quarter of 2023. By animal type, production from hog and cattle increased, while production from goat and carabao decreased.

The fourth quarter 2024 hog production in the province was estimated at 16,726.28 metric tons, liveweight. This was 4.92 percent higher (784.52 metric tons) than the same quarter output in the past year of 15,941.76 metric tons, liveweight. This animal type contributed 89.7 percent share to the total livestock production of the province.

Cattle production during the fourth quarter of 2024 was estimated at 1,200.15 metric tons, liveweight. This was 5.74 percent higher (65.10 metric tons) than the  same  period  output  in  2023  of  1,135.04  metric  tons,  liveweight.

This animal type contributed 6.4 percent share to the total livestock production of the province during the reference quarter.

Carabao production was estimated at 442.20 metric tons, liveweight in the fourth quarter of 2024. This was 30.1 percent lower (190.20 metric tons) than the fourth quarter 2023 output of 632.40 metric tons, liveweight. This animal type contributed 2.4 percent share to the total livestock production of the province.

The fourth quarter 2024 goat production was estimated at 268.26 metric tons, liveweight. This was 33.76 percent lower (136.74 metric tons) than the previous year’s same quarter output of 405.00 metric tons, liveweight. This animal type contributed 1.4 percent share to the total livestock production of the province during the reference quarter.

Volume of Poultry Production

The  total  volume  of  poultry  production  in  Palawan  was  estimated at 2,214.94 metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2024. It posted an increase of 18.40 percent or about 344.60 metric tons from the 1,870.35 metric tons production in the fourth quarter of 2023. This was brought about by the increase in chicken production which had 96.00 percent share of the total poultry production in the province.

During the fourth quarter of 2024, the total volume of egg production in Palawan was estimated at 755.73 metric tons. It posted a decrease of 20.06 percent (189.60 metric tons) from the 945.33 metric tons production during the fourth quarter of 2023. This was brought about by the decrease in chicken egg production which had 91.24 percent share of the total egg production in the province.
