Banana

During the first semester of 2024, the production of banana in Palawan declined by 6.5 percent compared with its output in 2023. The total volume of production, which was estimated at 17,135.48 metric tons, decreased by 1,198.06 metric tons from the 18,333.55 metric tons output in the same period last year.

Of the total banana production in Palawan in the first semester of 2024, 65.3 percent of the output came from banana saba. The remaining 34.7 percent was produced from varieties of lakatan, latundan, bungulan and others.

The area planted/harvested for banana reached 4,151.92 hectares during the reference period. This indicates an increase of 10.7 percent from the reported area of 3,749.30 hectares in the first semester of 2023.

Calamansi

The production of calamansi in the province declined by about 5.4 percent during the first semester of 2024. The 274.31 metric tons total volume of production this semester was about 15.60 metric tons lower than the 289.91 metric tons recorded output in the same semester in 2023.

From January to June 2024, the area planted/harvested for calamansi was estimated at 365.00 hectares, which shows a decline of 1.1 percent from the 369.10 hectares level in the same period of 2023.
 

Mango

The production of mango in Palawan in the first semester of 2024 was recorded at 14,319.85 metric tons, which registered a decline of 8.8 percent compared to the 15,707.15 metric tons harvested during the same period of the previous year.

The area planted/harvested for mango from January to June 2024 increased to 1,477.77 hectares or by 24.4 percent from the reported 1,188.25 hectares in the same period of 2023.

Of the total mango production in province for the first semester of 2024, 84.2 percent of the output came from mango carabao, while the remaining 15.8 percent came from production of mango indian, mango piko, and mango others.

Pineapple

The production of pineapple in the province of Palawan increased by 1.4 percent in the first semester of 2024 compared to the same semester output in 2023. The total volume of production was estimated at 492.22 metric tons or an increase of about 6.96 metric tons than the 485.26 metric tons recorded output in the same semester of the previous year.
 

The area planted/harvested for pineapple from January to June 2024 decreased to 43.55 hectares or by 48.1 percent from the reported area of 83.91 hectares in the same period of 2023.
