02 December 2024- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO)MIMAROPA conducted the Regional Data Dissemination Forum on the preliminary results of the 2022 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) on 28 November 2024 at Filipiniana Hotel in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. The ASPBI aims to collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the economy.
The forum aimed to present the key findings from the 2022 ASPBI in comparison with the 2021 and 2020 ASPBI results. It also served as venue to acknowledge and give due recognition to the cooperation of the responding sample establishments in the conduct of the ASPBI and discussed issues and concerns related to the statistics generated, with a particular focus on enhancing the reliability and accuracy of the data.
The event was attended by 89 participants from various government agencies including PSA officials and personnel, media, representatives from sample establishments, and other stakeholders.
According to the report of PSA MIMAROPA Regional Director, Dir. Leni R. Rioflorido, the number of establishments in formal sector of the region’s economy was at 5,497 establishments in 2022, translating to a decline of 2.7 percent from the 5,651 establishments in 2021. Similarly, total revenue and sales from e-commerce transactions registered a decline of 2.2 percent and 17.1 percent, respectively. However, in terms of total employment, average annual compensation, and total expense, these items recorded an increase of 3.8 percent, 7.1 percent, and 1.9 percent relative to 2021 results.
Ms. Ydah Michelle L. Mendoza, the Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) MIMAROPA, delivered a statement related to the results of the 2022 ASPBI on behalf of DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Rodolfo J. Mariposque.
The forum also featured the awarding of plaques to exemplary sample respondents for their timely submission of data.
