MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) is currently conducting the February 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS), from February 8 - 28, 2025.

The Labor Force Survey is a nationwide survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. Data from the survey provides information on major labor market trends such as labor force participation and unemployment rates, hours worked, past industries and occupations of the currently unemployed persons.

The data collected from LFS is essential to government planners and decision-makers because it serves as the basis for developing policies and programs aimed at: a) creating and generating gainful employment and livelihood opportunities; b) reduction of unemployment and underemployment; and, c) enhancement of the welfare of a working person. 

PSO Marinduque hired two Statistical Researchers (SRs) to conduct personal interviews with six Enumeration Areas/barangays across the province. 

The authority and mandate of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to conduct the February 2025 LFS emanates from Republic Act (RA) No. 10625. 

As provided in Article 5, Rule 4 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA 10625, otherwise known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, the PSA is primarily responsible for all national censuses and surveys, sectoral statistics, consolidation of selected administrative recording systems and compilation of national accounts.
