12 February 2025 – BOAC, MARINDUQUE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office reported an increase in the province’s inflation rate for January 2025, reaching 2.6 percent. This marks an upward trend compared to previous months, primarily driven by higher costs in food and non-alcoholic beverages, transport, and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

During the press conference, Chief Statistical Specialist Gemma N. Opis presented detailed statistical data and analysis, highlighting the key factors behind the inflation movement. The increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages emerged as the biggest contributor to inflation, largely due to rising prices of vegetables, meat products, fish and rice. Other commodity groups, including housing, water, electricity, and transportation, followed  as the major contributors of the fluctuations.

To wrap up the event, an open forum was held, encouraging meaningful discussions among local officials, media, and community members. Attendees had the chance to ask questions, express concerns, and share perspectives on the rising inflation rate and its effects on daily life. The session served as a valuable platform for deeper understanding and collaboration in addressing economic challenges.

The PSA PSO Marinduque remains committed to providing timely and accurate statistical data to guide local government units, businesses, and the public in economic planning and decision-making. The office continues to urge consumers and stakeholders to stay informed about price movements and trends that may affect their daily expenditures.
