11 January 2024 – ROMBLON, ROMBLON. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Romblon is presently conducting the January 2024 Labor Force Survey and 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (2023 FIES) Visit 2.
The LFS is a monthly and quarterly survey of households that measures the current state of the Philippine labor market. It is used to calculate national and regional key employment indicators. Meanwhile, the FIES is the country’s main source of data on family income, sources of income, family expenditure including cost and consumption volume. These are used in determining the income distribution, levels of living, spending patterns, and the degree of income inequality among families. Further, the FIES is the main source of data for the estimation of the official poverty statistics. The information generated from FIES also serve as inputs to policies and programs of the government in improving the socio-economic conditions of the Filipino people.
Fifty-seven (57) Statistical Researchers (SRs) and six (6) Team Supervisors were hired for the field operations which will cover the period January 9-31, 2024. Also, to conduct supervision and oversee the field operations, five (5) regular staff from PSO Romblon have been assigned. There are about 1,601 sample households are to be enumerated for the province of Romblon for this survey.
The authority and mandate of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to the 2022 ASPBI emanates from Republic Act (RA) No. 10625. As provided in Article 5, Rule 4 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA 10625, otherwise known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, the PSA is primarily responsible for all national censuses and surveys, sectoral statistics, consolidation of selected administrative recording systems and compilation of national accounts.
PSA Romblon enjoins the public, especially the sample households, to support the conduct of the January 2023 LFS-FIES by providing the required information to authorized PSA SRs during the conduct of the interview. PSA assures that all collected personal information will be used for statistical purposes only and will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
