21 January 2025 – PALAWAN. The Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Palawan is currently conducting the January 2025 round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) within Puerto Princesa City and selected municipalities of the province. A total of 13 hired and trained Statistical Researchers (SRs) will conduct personal interviews using tablets to the sample respondents for the period 08 to 31 January 2025.
The LFS gathers data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population and aims to provide information as a basis for the formulation of policies and programs on the creation and generation of gainful employment and livelihood opportunities, reduction of unemployment and underemployment, and enhancement of the welfare of a working person. Moreover, LFS is designed to provide statistics on levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment for the country and for each of the administrative regions.
The January 2025 LFS has a national sample of approximately 44,000 households deemed sufficient to provide reliable estimates at the national and regional level.
As the central statistical authority of the Philippine government on primary data collection, the PSA is mandated to conduct statistical sample surveys on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry, and other sectors of the economy under Section 6, Rule 5 of Republic Act No. (RA)10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013. In the performance of its function, the PSA assures the public that all personnel involved in this survey adheres and commits to the confidentiality of information as stipulated in Section 26 of RA 10625 and Section 8 of RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act.
ln addition, Section 25 of RA 10625 stipulates that all respondents, whether natural or legal, must provide truthful and complete information to all statistical inquiries or surveys conducted by the PSA. Hence, PSO Palawan encourages the public, specifically the sample households, to support and participate in the conduct of this survey.
