08 February 2024 – ROMBLON, ROMBLON. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)- Romblon, spearheaded the 34th Civil Registration Month Celebrations with a motorcade and an opening ceremony held at Magsaysay Lagoon Park in Capaclan, Romblon, Romblon. The activity took place on February 08, 2024 at 7 o’clock in the morning.

This year's theme, "CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services," underscores the critical role of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems in delivering efficient and accessible services to all citizens. The event was highlighted by the awarding of birth certificates in security paper (SECPA) to Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) beneficiaries. The BRAP aims to increase the level of birth registration, especially in marginalized communities such as those belonging to the Indigenous Peoples (IP), Muslim Filipinos, and the poorest sector in the country.

The activity was actively participated by different national government agencies, municipal and barangay LGUs, PSA staff and beneficiaries of BRAP of which they were warmly welcomed by the Supervising Statistical Specialist of PSA-Romblon, Engr. Dandy H. Fetalvero. 

Hon. Orly M. Magano, Sangguniang Bayan member of Romblon, was the Guest Speaker during the event. In his message, he emphasized the important role of Civil Registration and how it plays an important role in society, various aspects of governance, social services, and individual rights. He also encouraged everyone to avail of the services that the government is offering particularly in the civil registration. 

Meanwhile, Maria Cristina M. Uy, Registration Officer I, gave her message. She discussed importance of civil registration which provides individuals with legal identity through the issuance of birth certificates, marriage certificates, and other vital records. She also discussed the BRAP and the beneficiaries of this program. Followed next, was the highlight of the program, which is the awarding of birth certificates to the beneficiaries of BRAP. Nine individuals received their authenticated birth certificates, which was awarded by SSS Dandy H. Fetalvero, OIC-MCR Kenneth Benedicto, SBM Orlando Magano and ROI Maria Cristina M. Uy.

The event concluded with a closing remarks from Senior Statistical Specialist Gerald M. Morada, expressing gratitude to all participants for their unwavering support to PSA activities particularly in promoting civil registration awareness. 

The annual observance of CRM is pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 “Declaring the Month of February of Every Year as Civil Registration Month” issued by then President Corazon C. Aquino dated January 28, 1991.
