Headline inflation or the annual rate of change on the prices of goods and services in the market basket in Oriental Mindoro increased to 2.4 percent in June 2025 from 1.6 percent in the previous month. This brings the provincial average inflation rate from January to June 2025 to 2.8 percent. (Table 1)

The increased inflation rate in the province for the month of June 2025 was mainly influenced by the higher annual increment in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 4.6 percent during the month from 2.3 percent in May 2025. This was followed by the slower year-on-year decrement of transport indexed at 3.0 percent from an annual decline of 4.2 percent in May 2025. The annual increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 2.7 percent in June 2025 from 2.5 percent in the previous month also contributed to the upward trend. (Table 2)

The top five main contributors to the increased overall inflation of the province in June 2025 were the following commodities:

1. Meat of pigs, fresh, chilled or frozen, 30.6 percent from 31.3 percent;
2. Electricity, 7.1 percent from 1.1 percent;
3. Rentals, which retained its previous month’s rate of 3.1 percent;
4. Meat of poultry, fresh, chilled or frozen, 10.7 percent from 0.9 percent; and
5. Charges on water supply, 51.7 percent from zero percent.

For food index in the province, it increased to 2.6 percent in June 2025 from 2.3 percent in the previous month. In June 2024, food inflation was recorded at 1.9 percent.

 

 

The overall inflation for the Bottom 30% Income Households in June 2025 was registered at 2.3 percent from 1.4 percent in May 2025.

The main sources of acceleration in the June 2025 inflation in Oriental Mindoro for the Bottom 30% Income Households were the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels indexed at 5.8 percent during the month from 1.4 percent in May 2025. Transport, which has a slower annual decrease of 3.6 percent in June 2025 from an annual decline of 5.0 percent in the previous month, also contributed to the year-on-year inflation trend for June 2025.
