Registered Live Births in Municipality of Socorro: 2022
More females were born than males
In 2022, more females (268 or 52.3 percent share) were born than male (244 or 47.7 percent share), resulting in 91 males per 100 females sex ratio at birth. (Figure 1)
Most of the births were timely registered
Out of the 512 registered births, 454 births were timely registered, of this, 242 births were females (53.3 percent) and 212 births were males (46.7 percent). On the other hand, a total of 58 births were late registered, 32 births (55.2 percent) were males while 26 births (44.8 percent) were females.
Most number of births registered in December
In 2022, December had the greatest number of registered births with 56 in all, or 10.9 percent of births. The months of October with 51 births (10.0 percent) and May with 49 births (9.6 percent) came next. September, on the other hand, had the lowest number of births with 7 births or 1.4 percent.
Eight in ten birth deliveries were attended by physician
Of the total number of births in Municipality of Socorro, 79.5 percent were attended by physician. Conversely, 10.0 percent of births were delivered by midwife while the 7.2 percent were assisted by other person excluding the nurse and hilot/traditional birth attendant.
Nine in ten births delivered at health facility
In 2022, there were 463 registered births (90.4 percent) delivered at health institution, such as a hospital, birthing clinic, lying-in, outpatient care center, specialized care center, or the like. On the other side, 49 births (9.6) percent occurred at home.
Out of all births, nine out of ten were delivered health facility rather than home. The topography or the parents' area influence the delivery location, particularly if the residence is too remote from the city and it takes an hour to get to the nearest hospital. Fortunately, more mothers decided to give birth at health institution to ensure safe delivery and medical assistance from the professionals.
Majority of babies were born to mothers aged 25-29 years old
In 2022, mothers between the ages of 25 and 29 accounted for 175 or 34.2 percent of all births registered in the Municipality of Socorro. Furthermore, of the 143 births in the town, or 27.9 percent of all births, were from the ages of 30-34 years old.
Further, mothers between the ages of 20-24 had 82 births (16.0 percent) while 35-34 ages of mother had 69 births (13.5 percent). On the other hand, mothers between15-19 ages had 27 births in total (5.3 percent).
Most number of registered births were legitimate children
In 2022, most registered births were legitimate children with a 318 or 62.1 percent of the total births in Municipality of Socorro. On the other hand, illegitimate children have a fewer total number which are 194 or 37.9 percent of total births registered.

Live births shall be reported for registration to C/MCR not later than thirty (30) days from the date of birth.
Any report made to the LCROs beyond the reglementary period are considered late and can be entered only in the civil register after the informant complies with the requirements for delayed registration.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Live birth is the complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a conception, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, which, after such separation, breaths or shows any other evidence of life such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such birth is considered live born.
Legitimate child is a child who is born to parents who are married to each other. This means that their parents are legally recognized as being married and the child is considered to be their lawful child. A legitimate child has certain legal rights and privileges that an illegitimate child may not have.
