Religious Affiliation in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Roman Catholic account for 85.3 percent of the household population
Of the 41,650 household population in 2020, 35,525 persons or 85.3 percent reported Roman Catholic, Excluding Catholic Charismatic as their religious affiliation in the municipality of Puerto Galera. It was followed by Bible Baptist Church with 1,062 persons or 2.5 percent and Islam with 995 persons with 2.4 percent. Completing the top ten Religious Affiliations in 2020 in the municipality of Puerto Galera were Iglesia ni Cristo with 1.8 percent, Evangelical Christian Outreach Foundation with 0.8 percent, Other Protestant with 0.5 percent, Other Baptist with 0.4 percent, Jehovah’s Witness, Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of the Philippines and Victory Chapel Christian Fellowship with 0.2 percent, respectively. Barangay San Antonio with the highest proportion of household population that reported Roman Catholic as their religious affiliation
Of the thirteen Barangays in the municipality of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Barangay San Antonio posted the highest proportion of Roman Catholics comprising 98.7 percent of the household population. Completing the top ten Barangay with the highest proportion of household population that reported as Roman Catholic as their religious affiliation were as Barangay Sinandigan with 96.1 percent, Barangay Palangan with 94.4 percent, Barangay Sabang with 93.6 percent, Barangay Baclayan with 92.3 percent, Barangay Santo Niño with 91.4 percent, Barangay Balatero with 89.7 percent, Barangay San Isidro with 89.3 percent, Barangay Tabinay with 86.8 percent and Barangay Dulangan with 83.0 percent. Meanwhile, Barangay Villaflor reported as the least number of households population, out of 2,090 there was 977 or 46.7 percent with Roman Catholic as their religion. (Table 2 and Table 3)
Barangays with at least 90.0 percent of household population who reported Roman Catholic as their religion
Among the thirteen barangays in the municipality of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, there were six barangays with at least 90.0 percent of household population reported as Roman Catholic as their religious affiliation. These were Barangay San Antonio with 98.7 percent, Barangay Sinandigan with 96.1 percent, Barangay Palangan with 94.4 percent, Barangay Sabang with 93.6 percent, Barangay Baclayan with 92.3 percent and Barangay Santo Niño with 91.4 percent. (Table 4)
Barangay Villaflor has the highest proportion of household population with Bible Baptist Church as religion
The municipality of Puerto Galera was able to register 1,062 persons (2.5 percent) who reported Bible Baptist Church as their religion. Barangay Villaflor posted the highest proportion of Bible Baptist Church with 17.2 percent as their religion. It was followed by Barangay Dulungan with 13.0 percent, Barangay Poblacion with 1.2 percent, Barangay Balatero and Barangay Tabinay with 1.1 percent each, Barangay San Isidro reported as the least number of Bible Baptist Church as their religion with 0.1 percent. (Table 5)
Barangays with the highest double-digit proportion of household population with Bible Baptist Church as religion
Out of thirteen Barangays, there were two Barangays reported with double-digit proportion, first is Barangay Villaflor with 17.2 percent and secondly, Barangay Dulungan with 13.0 percent were Bible Baptist Church as their religious affiliation in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. (Table 6)

The population and housing censuses in the Philippines are conducted on a “de jure” basis, that is, a person is counted in the usual place of residence or the place where the person usually resides. The enumeration of the population and collection of pertinent data in the 2020 CPH referred to all living persons as of 01 May 2020.
For the 2020 CPH, data on the Religious Affiliation of all household members were collected by asking the respondents, “What is ____’s religious affiliation?”.
