03 January 2025 – CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will conduct the January 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS) from January 08 to 31, 2025. The LFS is a comprehensive nationwide survey of households conducted by the PSA aimed at collecting information on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. The data gathered from the survey offers insights into key labor market trends such as participation in the labor force, unemployment rates, hours worked, and the previous industries and occupations of individuals who are currently unemployed.
The data collected from the LFS is essential to government planners and decision- makers because it serves as the basis for developing policies and programs aimed at: a) creating and generating gainful employment and livelihood opportunities; b) reduction of unemployment and underemployment; c) enhancement of the welfare of a working person.
In Oriental Mindoro, six (6) hired Statistical Researchers will assist the Office to conduct the actual interview to a total of 390 sample households. They are currently participating in a four-day training, beginning on January 4, to acquire the essential knowledge and skills required for conducting interviews in accordance with the standard data collection procedures.
The PSA-Oriental Mindoro is seeking assistance and collaboration, particularly to sample households, by providing accurate information relating to their households.
Respondents are guaranteed that their information will be kept confidential as stipulated in Section 26 of RA 10625 (Confidentiality of Information) and Section 8 of RA 10173, known as the Data Privacy Act. Any data collected in this context will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
