PSO Occidental Mindoro Holds

Awareness Session on Safe Spaces Act

05 March 2025, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro. In support of the National Women's Month Celebration (NWMC) this March 2025 with the sub-theme "Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, the Philippine Statistics Authority — Occidental Mindoro conducts a safe spaces act session during the celebration of women's month at PSO office training room, Barangay Payompon, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro on March 05, 2025.

The Republic Act No. 11313 or also known as Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law) is the policy of the state to value the dignity of every human person and guarantee full respect for human rights. This also recognizes that both men and women must have equality, security and safety in all public and private spaces, including streets, online, workplaces, and educational and training institutions.

In support of the celebration, the office invited Atty. Ella Cecilia A. Cajayon, Public Attorney II of the Public Attorney's Office — Mamburao to conduct a lecture on RA No. 11313 also known as Safe Spaces Act and RA No. 7877 or also known as Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995. Atty. Cajayon discussed all section on the Safe Spaces Act and emphasize the importance of being vigilant to our surroundings to avoid sexual harassment that may happen to everyone.

After the session, Atty. Cajayon engages with the PSA personnel on their insights on the discussion and ask some questions and clarifications regarding the Safe Spaces Act. With this, the PSO Occidental Mindoro thank and acknowledge Atty. Ella Cecilia A. Cajayon for her invaluable insights and contribution during the National Women's Month celebration of the office. Together, let us work and build a community that is safe and well for everyone.
