
11 July 2025 - PUERTO GALERA. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro successfully conducted the Presentation of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System Preliminary Results for the Municipality of Puerto Galera on 11 July 2025 at the Municipal Mayor’s Conference Room, New Municipal Building, Brgy. Balatero, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.
In her Opening Message, PSA Oriental Mindoro’s Officer-in-Charge Dr. Charlyn Romero-Cantos, expressed her gratitude for the contributions and support of the local community, particularly at the barangay level, in making the initiative possible. She highlighted the crucial importance of the CBMS in providing local government units with accurate and detailed data, which is essential for informed decision-making, targeted programs, and long-term development.
The event was graced by Hon. Vice-Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to access the valuable CBMS data. He shared his excitement about using the data to guide the municipality’s progress and improve programs aimed at community development.
The Officer-in-Charge of PSA Oriental Mindoro delivered a comprehensive presentation on the preliminary results of the 2024 CBMS for the municipality of Puerto Galera. She presented significant insights into various socio-economic indicators, such as household access to electricity, internet connectivity, and clean cooking fuels, essential services like water and sanitation, as well as levels of food security.
Following the presentation, an open forum was held where local stakeholders actively participated and asked questions. It served as a platform for clarifying CBMS findings, sharing insights, and discussing how the data could address local needs through collaborative planning.
During the Closing Remarks, Ms. Monica Alfante-Evangelista, the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator of LGU Puerto Galera, shared her plans to utilize the CBMS data in guiding the municipality’s planning and development initiatives. She also reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to integrating CBMS findings into its local development agenda and to strengthening collaboration with barangays and other stakeholders.
The PSA is committed to deliver relevant and reliable statistics. Hence, the agency encourages the public, especially the sample establishments, to participate in the various censuses and surveys conducted by the PSA. The agency also assures that all collected personal information is processed in accordance with the law and other issuances.
