The President of the Philippines declared the official count of the population through Proclamation No. 973 dated 11 July 2025, pursuant to Republic Act No. 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 87, s. 2025. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced that based on the 2024 Census of Population (2024 POPCEN), the total population of the City of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro as of 01 July 2024 is 148,558.

The population figure of the City of Calapan reveals the total number of persons living in the 62 barangays as of 12:01 AM on 01 July 2024. Compared to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), the population of the City of Calapan in 2024 increased by 2,772 persons from 145,786 in 2020. The population growth rate (PGR) slowed to 0.45 percent annually from 2020 to 2024. Of the 62 barangays, Barangay Bulusan recorded the largest population in 2024 with 6,145 individuals, followed by Barangay Lumangbayan with 5,210 individuals, Barangay Lazareto with 4,916 individuals, Barangay Sta. Isabel with 4,588 individuals and Barangay Balite with 4,586 individuals. The combined population of these five barangays accounts for about 17.1 percent of the population of the city.
