30 July 2025 – PALAWAN. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announces the conduct of the 2025 National Migration Survey (NMS) on 04 August to 01 September 2025. The 2025 NMS is the second nationwide survey on migration to be implemented in the country, following the first survey conducted by the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) in 2018. The conduct of the NMS was approved per PSA Board Resolution No. 16 Series of 2024 and will be implemented every 10 years starting 2025.
The 2025 NMS aims to provide information on the mobility of the Philippine population to assist policymakers and program managers in evaluating and designing strategies for improving services and assistance to people abroad or moving within the country.
The 2025 NMS is designed to provide baseline information on internal and international migration and has the following specific objectives:
1. Estimate international and inter-regional migration flows and major migration streams.
2. Examine different types of migration and characteristics of internal and international migrants; and
3. Determine levels, patterns, and processes of internal and international migration.
PSA Palawan will utilize eight hired statistical researchers (SRs) and two team supervisors (TSs) in the 2025 NMS enumeration through face-to-face interviews using Computer Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) technique. These hired personnel will gather the necessary information from the 391 sample households across the province of Palawan and 394 sample households in Puerto Princesa City which were randomly selected through scientific sampling procedures.
All the sampled households are enjoined to support the 2025 NMS operation in Palawan by providing the required information to authorized PSA personnel who will visit their housing units.
