PRESS RELEASE

PSA Oriental Mindoro Conducts Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) Data Collection and Listing of Service Facilities and Government Programs (SFGP) for the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS)

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro is conducting this May 2024 the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS) Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) Data Collection and Listing of Service Facilities and Government Projects (SFGP) throughout the province.

The collected data on the barangay profile will be used to update the urban-rural classification of barangays. Meanwhile, the listing of service facilities and government projects will serve as a reference for geotagging these facilities and government projects as part of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.

Six statistical researchers and one team supervisor are involved in the BPQ data collection and SFGP Listing from May 06 to June 05, 2024. The field data collection and listing will be conducted for twenty-six days. Four modes can be used in the data collection and listing process namely: (1) Self-Administered Paper or SAQ-P; (2) Self-Administered Digital questionnaire or SAQ-D; (3) Computer-Assisted Personal Interview or CAPI; and (4) Pen-and-Paper Personal Interview or PAPI.

PSA is currently leading the implementation of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), according to Republic Act (RA) No. 11315, also known as the CBMS Act. The CBMS, as defined by the law, is an organized technology-based system of collecting, processing, and validating necessary disaggregated data. The collected data are used for local-level planning, program implementation, and impact monitoring while empowering communities to participate in the process.

Concurrently, PSA is also conducting the Census of Population (POPCEN), as mandated by RA 10625, also known as the Philippine Statistics Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 325.

As such, POPCEN and CBMS are conducted simultaneously, and is referred to as the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, which represents a cost-efficient strategy designed to update the population and social registry of the Philippines.

The PSA is committed to delivering relevant and reliable statistics. Hence, the agency encourages the public, especially the sample households and establishments, to participate in the various censuses and surveys conducted by the PSA. The agency also assures everyone that all collected personal information is processed in accordance with the law and other issuances.
