The headline inflation in the City of Puerto Princesa decelerated to 3.9 percent in June 2025, from 4.2 percent in the previous month. In June 2024, the inflation rate is higher at 4.1 percent. (Table A and Figure 1) 

The downtrend in the overall inflation rate in Puerto Princesa City in June 2025 was primarily brought by the lower index in Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, posted at 1.3 percent and 3.2 percent in May 2025. This was followed by an 8.0 percent decrease in Restaurants and Accommodation Services in the current month, compared to 12.0 percent in the previous month. Also contributing to the deceleration were Personal Care and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, registered at 3.4 percent in June 2025 and 3.6 percent in the past month.

Meanwhile, higher indices were observed in the following commodities: 

a) Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages, 4.9 percent from 3.8 percent; 
b) Personal care and miscellaneous goods and services, 3.4 percent from 3.6 percent;
c) Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, 2.9 from 2.7 percent; 
d) Clothing and Footwear, 1.0 percent from 0.9 percent; 
e) Furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance,  2.2 percent from 2.1 percent; 
f) Health, 7.2 percent from 6.8 percent; 
g) Transport, -2.9 percent from -3.1 percent; and  
h) Information and Communication, 28.4 percent from 28.2 percent.

On the other hand, Recreation sport and culture, Education services, and Financial services retained their previous month’s inflation rates.

Food index for all income households in Puerto Princesa City in June 2025 accelerated to 4.6 percent, higher than its previous month’s inflation of 3.6 percent. In June 2024, the food index was lower, at 4.4 percent inflation rate. (Table C)

The faster food inflation rates for the month were driven by a higher increment for the Fish and other seafood index at 20.0 percent from 8.5 percent in June 2025. This was followed by Fruits and nuts at 16.3 percent from 11.7 percent, and Milk, other dairy products and eggs, at 3.6 percent from 3.1 percent and Oils and fats at 5.2 percent from 4.2 percent.

On the other hand, the indices of the following commodity groups posted lower inflation during the month:

a. Cereals and cereal products, -2.9 percent from -2.4 percent; 
b. Meat and Other Parts of Slaughtered Land Animals, 9.9 percent from 10.2 percent; 
c. Vegetables, Tubers, Plantains, Cooking Bananas and Pulses, -0.7 percent from 4.8 percent; and 
d. Ready-made Food and Other Food Products n.e.c., 4.0 percent from 5.0 percent

Meanwhile, Flour, Bread and other Bakery Products, Pasta Products and other Cereals retained its previous month’s index of 3.2 percent.
