19 NOVEMBER 2024 – MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Marinduque has successfully completed its Retail Price Survey (RPS) for selected commodities and services in the province for the month of November 2024. This survey is part of the regular data collection efforts aimed at generating the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which serves as a critical tool for measuring inflation and understanding the cost of living for households in the province.
The timely and accurate information gathered from this survey will not only be used to calculate the CPI for Marinduque but will also contribute to the broader national economic monitoring efforts. This data assists in tracking inflation trends, helping to identify potential areas of concern that may require targeted interventions from government agencies or other stakeholders.
PSA PSO Marinduque enlisted the support of six Statistical Researchers (SRs). These researchers were tasked with visiting six designated retail outlets across the province, conducting the survey in two phases. The first phase took place from November 1-5, 2024, while the second phase followed from November 15-17, 2024. This approach ensured the gathering of reliable and up-to-date price data for key commodities and services.
The successful completion of this survey reinforces PSA Marinduque’s commitment to providing reliable, timely, and relevant data to support economic decision-making at both the local and national levels. By tracking the prices of key commodities, the survey helps stakeholders, from government agencies to local businesses, understand market dynamics and respond effectively to changes in the economy.
This initiative underscores PSA’s role as a key partner in fostering transparency, informed decision-making, and sustainable development for Marinduque and the Philippines as a whole.
