
Headline inflation or the annual rate of change on the prices of goods and services in the market basket in Oriental Mindoro continued to slow down to 3.4 percent in February 2025 from 3.7 percent in January 2025. (Table 1)
The slower inflation rate in the province for the month of February 2025 was primarily influenced by the slower annual year-on-year growth in the index of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 4.2 percent from 4.8 percent in the previous month. The annual decrease of transport at 0.7 percent in February 2025 from a 1.0 percent increase in January 2025 also contributed to the downward trend. (Table 2)
The top five (5) main contributors to the downtrend overall inflation of the province in February 2025 are the following commodities:
1. Meat of pigs, fresh, chilled or frozen, 55.2 percent from 47.5 percent;
2. Electricity, 16.3 percent from 12.0 percent;
3. Rentals which retained its previous month’s rate of 3.1 percent;
4. Meat of poultry, 11.4 percent from 12.9 percent; and
5. Offal, blood and others, 45.5 percent from 38.5 percent.
For food index in the province, it slowed down to 4.3 percent in February 2025 from 5.0 percent in January 2025. In February 2024, food inflation was registered at 1.9 percent.
The overall inflation for the Bottom 30% Income Households in February 2025 was recorded at 3.4 percent from 4.0 percent in the previous month.

The main sources of deceleration of the February 2025 inflation of Oriental Mindoro for the Bottom 30% Income Households are the slower annual increase in the index of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 1.8 percent during this month from 3.0 percent in January 2025, and the faster annual decrease of transport registered at 0.9 percent in February 2025 from an increase of 0.9 percent in the previous month.
