16 OCTOBER 2024 – MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. On 16 October 2024, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) Marinduque successfully conducted a press conference to present and discuss the Inflation Report for the province of Marinduque for the month of September 2024. This event is part of the PSA's ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and to keep the public well-informed about key economic indicators, particularly those related to inflation trends impacting the province.

The inflation rate, which measures the annual rate of change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), is a critical economic indicator used to assess purchasing power, household expenses, and economic stability. 

During the press briefing, Chief Statistical Specialist Ms. Gemma N. Opis revealed that Marinduque’s headline inflation rate saw a modest decline of 0.2 percent in September. This slight decrease contributed to an average inflation rate of 1.1 percent for the period of January to September 2024. Additionally, the Purchasing Power of the Peso fell slightly to Php 0.76 during this time.

The press conference also provided an in-depth look at the factors behind the inflation trends, particularly focusing on price changes in essential commodities such as food, utilities and accommodation services. CSS Opis emphasized the importance of closely monitoring of these inflation rates, as they directly affect the purchasing power and overall economic well-being of local households.

The event concluded with an open forum where media representatives and local stakeholders had the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on various aspects of the inflation report.
