The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) successfully conducted the 1st Quarter 2024 Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS), from 25 March 2024 to 3 April 2024. The PSA's authority and mandate to conduct this survey emanates from Republic Act (RA) 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which authorizes the PSA to prepare and conduct surveys and periodic censuses on various sectors of the economy.

CLPS is one of the major agricultural surveys conducted by PSA. Moreover, the commodity coverage includes carabao, cattle, swine, goat, sheep, chicken, duck, and other animals tended/raised by the establishments. This survey aims to generate estimates on the inventory, number of animals disposed, average farmgate price, egg production of poultry animals, milk production of dairy animals and other related data. More importantly, the production data generated from the survey are direct inputs to the valuation of production in Philippine agriculture and fisheries, and accordingly to the computation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

PSA – Marinduque hired four Statistical Researchers (SRs) to conduct personal interviews in 10 sample establishments from selected barangays across the province located in Boton and Tugos in Boac, Tabionan and Libtangin in Gasan, Caigangan in Buenavista, Balanacan in Mogpog, and Pantayin in Santa Cruz.

The CLPS sampling frame is based on the 2021 List of Establishments (LE) engaged in livestock and poultry raising.

PSA assures that SRs will continue to strictly adhere to proper health protocols when dealing with respondents.

Pursuant to Section 19 of Republic Act (RA) No. 10173, known as the “Data Privacy Act of 2012,” all information that will be gathered will be treated with utmost confidentiality. Further, Section 26 of RA No. 10625 also stipulates that “individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses conducted by the PSA shall be considered privileged communication and as such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.”
