27 September 2024 – MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) successfully conducted the Third Quarter 2024 Commercial Fisheries Survey (QMFS), from July 1, 2024 to September 27, 2024.
The QMFS is a fisheries subsector that focuses on fishing operations in marine waters up to 15 kilometers from shore, using boats of three gross tons or less. This survey collects data on the volume and price of species unloaded at municipal landing centers, along with information on
gear, fishing effort, and fishing grounds. Its goal is to generate data on the volume and value of municipal fisheries production by species at provincial, regional, and national levels.
In Marinduque, there are twelve traditional landing centers in Buenavista, Gasan, Mogpog, Santa Cruz, and Torrijos, where fisherfolks can unload and trade their catch or dock boats without fees. Nine Statistical Researchers (SRs) were hired to conduct personal interviews.
PSA guarantees that Statistical Researchers (SRs) will consistently follow health protocols while engaging with respondents. In this regard, qualified fisherfolks are urged to participate in this national effort by supplying accurate and essential information.
According to Section 19 of Republic Act No. 10173, the “Data Privacy Act of 2012,” all collected information will be kept strictly confidential. Additionally, Section 26 of RA No. 10625 states that individual data provided to the PSA for statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses is considered privileged communication and cannot be used as evidence in any legal proceedings.
