25 June 2025 – CITY OF PUERTO PRINCESA. As the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) operation nears completion, the Philippine Statistics Authortity (PSA) Palawan presented the preliminary results for the Municipality of Cagayancillo on 20 June 2025 at PSA Palawan Provincial Statistical Office. This activity was done to validate the data collected from the municipality and to provide insights and understanding of the initial findings of the CBMS.
The participants in this activity were Honorable Mayor Sergio S. Tapalla, Acting Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator and Designated Data Protection Officer Aris C. Bonales, Municipal Civil Registrar Vilma C. Magbanua, Municipal Health Officer Zola G. Calig-a, Day Care Worker I Flordelina Bundac, and Administrative Officer II and Designated Municipal Statistician Ronna Selpha T. Fresnillo. Senior Statistical Specialist Jesus Niño M. Sorima, assisted by Information Systems Analyst II Reinell L. Manlapaz and Statistical Specialist II Marnito C. Andrada, presented the preliminary statistics on some key indicators derived from the 2024 CBMS such as Access to Basic Drinking Water Service, Food Insecurity Experiences, Senior Citizen with ID, School Attendance including the Reasons for not Attending School, Type of Toilet Facility, Access to Basic Electricity, Unemployment Rate, Peace and Order, and Access to Internet.
During the presentation, Hon. Mayor Tapalla expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the CBMS as the data generated from it will be highly beneficial to evidence-based planning, policy formulation, program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of activities in their Municipality.
CBMS is an organized technology-based system of collecting, processing, and validating necessary disaggregated data that may be used for local planning, program implementation, and impact monitoring while empowering communities to participate in the process. It involves generation of data at the local level which serves as a basis in targeting households for government programs geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development.
