23 MAY 2024 - BIGA, SANTA CRUZ, MARINDUQUE. The Provincial Statistical Office of Marinduque, in collaboration with the Santa Cruz LGU, has successfully awarded the Certificates of Live Birth in Security Paper (SECPA) to the beneficiaries of BRAP. The awarding ceremony took place at the Barangay Hall of Biga, Santa Cruz on 23 May 2024. ROI Mary Michelle Macutong and BRC Shiela Mae Matining, were present in the awarding ceremony to personally hand the COLBs to the five beneficiaries of the said project. The beneficiaries of the said project could not hide their emotions as they got hold of their COLBs. They are all thankful because PSA provided this kind of program, in which many unregistered births will be registered free of charge.
At the same time, another service was also delivered to the residents of the said barangay – the registration of birth certificates which are not yet in the PSA database. A total of ten (10) individuals were catered whose COLBs were successfully prepared free of charge upon completing the necessary requirements for delayed registration. Leaflets regarding civil registration was also distributed to the residents on that day.
Launched in February 2022, BRAP allows the late registration of the birth records of individuals belonging to marginalized communities, Indigenous Peoples group, Muslim Filipinos, the poorest sector of the country, senior citizens, and those who are currently living outside of their birthplaces. This is a significant milestone which the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) prioritizes to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) and that they will be enrolled to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
