14 November 2024 – Santa Cruz, Marinduque. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office concluded its province-wide School Tour for the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) at Botilao National High School on 14 November 2024, in collaboration with LGU Santa Cruz and LCRO Santa Cruz, under the leadership of MCR Ermelinda R. Rey-Recaña. This final stop marked the end of PSA Marinduque’s series of school visits aimed at promoting statistical literacy across Marinduque, in line with the 35th NSM theme, “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation.”
Throughout October, PSA Marinduque engaged students in statistical awareness activities, highlighting the role of data in everyday life and the growing impact of digital technology on data collection and usage. The session at Botilao National High School featured a Statistics and Civil Registration Forum for Junior and Senior High School students, providing insights into the importance of civil registration and its impact on statistical data. Presentations covered the basics of statistics, PSA’s functions, and the significance of accurate data for informed decision-making.
A highlight of the event was the interactive Statistical Quiz, where students demonstrated their understanding of the topics discussed during the tour. The quiz fostered an enjoyable learning atmosphere, reinforcing key statistical concepts and encouraging students to see the practical applications of data in daily life. Winners received prizes, and all participants gained a deeper understanding of the relevance of statistics and civil registration in empowering communities.
PSA Marinduque extends its gratitude to all the schools involved in this successful NSM School Tour, which effectively raised awareness of the power of data and civil registration in promoting informed decision-making. The PSA looks forward to similar outreach efforts in the future to continue building statistical literacy among the youth.
