BOAC, MARINDUQUE. PSA-Marinduque PSO, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Boac, thru the initiative of Boac LCRO, has successfully conducted Civil Registration Services in the three barangays of the municipality – Barangay Lupac, Barangay Tabigue and Barangay Maligaya, last 25 and 26 of January 2024, respectively. These activities were held in the barangay halls of the aforementioned barangays.
Birth Registration Agent Shiela Mae Matining, along with Boac LCRO staff, were present to provide various information on civil registration laws and the process of delayed registration through the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP), as well as to provide services to the constituents of the said barangays, such as accepting requests for civil registry documents on PSA copy via Boac BREQS. Possible target beneficiaries for delayed registration under BRAP were also identified for verification in the PSA database.
On the other hand, another civil registration services was held in Barangay Maligaya, Boac, on January 26, 2024. Boac LCRO employee Leody Marie Mercado also provided advise to those who were having problems with their records, such as inaccurate birth certificate entries.
Launched in February 2022, BRAP allows the late registration of the birth records of individuals belonging to marginalized communities, Indigenous People, Muslim Filipinos, the poorest sector of the country, senior citizens, and those who are currently living outside of their birthplaces. This is a significant milestone which the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) prioritize to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) and that they will be enrolled to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
