The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque is making notable progress in the implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), also known as the National ID. Since the registration launch on June 28, 2021, PhilSys has since made strides in registration, issuance, and delivery within the province.
Over 208,000 residents are registered in the province of Marinduque
As of 2024, a total of 208,028 individuals have been registered in Marinduque, representing 86.97 percent of the updated target population of 239,207, which now includes children aged one to four. This marks a substantial increase from the initial target of 215,350 registrants aged five and older.
Among the municipalities, Boac achieved the highest registration total with 53,068 individuals, covering 92.64 percent of its target population, while Buenavista recorded the lowest registration numbers at 21,515, achieving 82.61 percent of its target.
78.32 percent of Marinduque Residents Now Have National IDs in Paper Format
To provide immediate benefits to registrants, PSA introduced the ePhilID—a digital format of the National ID printed in paper—in October 2022. By the end of 2024, PSA PSO Marinduque had issued 162,927 National IDs in paper format, covering 78.32 percent of the registered population. Notably, Santa Cruz recorded the highest issuance with 41,509 National IDs in paper format, while Buenavista had the lowest with 17,158 issued National IDs in paper format.
In 2022, 88,072 National IDs in paper format were issued, covering 75.48 percent of 116,681 registrations. Issuance surged in 2023 to 62,431 National IDs in paper format (305.53 percent coverage), likely clearing backlogs. By 2024, 12,424 National IDs in paper format were issued (76.79 percent coverage), reflecting stabilized operations aligned with registrations.
However, the issuance output for 2024 fell short of the target, achieving 36.78 percent of the annual goal of 35,575 National IDs in paper format. November marked the highest performance level, surpassing expectations with an achievement rate of 111.07 percent. October followed with a completion rate of 69.44 percent. In contrast, June recorded the lowest output, achieving only 1.96 percent of its target. Overall, performance during the mid-year months was relaxed, as May, July, and September registered below 30 percent completion rates. The notable overachievement in November indicates a concentrated effort during that month.
National ID Delivery Updates According to Philpost
As of 30 April 2024, PhilPost has successfully delivered a total of 70,624 National IDs across the province of Marinduque. Among the municipalities, Boac recorded the highest issuance, with 23,617 National IDs, whereas Buenavista reported the lowest, with a total of 4,523 National IDs issued.
The PSA PSO Marinduque is dedicated to further enhancing the efficiency and reach of PhilSys to promote inclusivity and accessibility for all residents. With continued collaboration and improvements in processes, the agency is poised to meet the remaining targets and fully realize the potential of the National ID system.
