15 January 2025 – Boac, Marinduque. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) Marinduque held a press conference on 14 January 2025 to present its December 2024 Inflation Report. Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Ms. Gemma N. Opis revealed that the province's inflation rate rose to 2.1 percent, driven by price increases in key sectors, including food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing, water, electricity, gas, other fuels, and transport.
Throughout 2024, the province's average inflation rate was recorded at 1.1 percent, while the Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) remained steady at PHP 0.75. These statistics highlight the importance of robust data in understanding economic conditions and addressing challenges faced by the community.
To promote transparency and accessibility, the press conference was streamed live on PSA PSO Marinduque’s official Facebook pages. Residents and stakeholders were able to participate in the discussion during an open forum, where valuable insights and concerns about the province’s economic trajectory were shared.
