Registered Live Births in Municipality of Puerto Galera: 2022

 

 

More males were born than females

In 2022, more males (147 or 55.9 percent share) were born than females (116 or 44.1 percent share), resulting in 127 males per 100 females sex ratio at birth in the Municipality of Puerto Galera. (Figure 1)

 

 

Most of the births were timely registered

Out of the 263 registered births, 177 births were timely registered, of this, 102 births were males (57.6 percent), and 75 births were females (42.4 percent). Conversely, a total of 86 births were late registered, 45 births (52.3 percent) were males while 41 births (47.7 percent) were females.

 

 

Most number of births registered in October

In 2022, October had the greatest number of registered births with 28 in all, or 10.6 percent of all births. The months of November 27 births (10.3 percent) and August with 24 births (9.1 percent) came next. July, on the other hand, had the lowest number of births at 17 births.

 

 

 

Seven in ten birth deliveries were attended by midwife

Of the total number of births in Municipality of Puerto Galera, 70.7 percent were attended by midwives while 27.0 percent of births were delivered by a hilot/traditional birth attendant. Moreover, 1.1 percent were delivered by both physician and nurse.

 

 

Seven in ten births delivered at health facility

In 2022, there were 188 registered births (71.5 percent) delivered at health facilities such as a hospital, birthing clinic, lying-in, outpatient care center, specialized care center, or the like. Meanwhile, 75 births (28.5 percent) were delivered at home.

Out of all births, seven out of ten were delivered at a medical facility rather than at home. The topography or the parents' area influences the delivery location, particularly in cases where the residence needs an hour to reach the nearest hospital.

 

 

Majority of babies were born to mothers aged 20-24 years old

In 2022, mothers between the ages of 20 and 24 accounted for 75 or 28.5 percent of all births registered in the Municipality of Puerto Galera. Furthermore, 69 births (26.2 percent) of all births, were from the ages of 30-34 years old.

 

 

In 2022, mothers between the ages of 25-29 had 61 births (23.2 percent) while 35-39 ages of mother had 26 births (9.9 percent). On the other hand, mothers between 15-19 ages had 23 births in total (8.7 percent).

 

Most number of registered births were illegitimate children

In 2022, most registered births were illegitimate children with 181 (68.8 percent) of this, 100 (55.2 percent) were males and 81 (44.8 percent) were females in Municipality of Puerto Galera. On the other hand, legitimate children have a fewer total number which are 82 (31.2 percent) wherein males had 47 (57.3 percent) and females had 35 (42.7 percent) of births registered.

TECHNICAL NOTES

 

Live births shall be reported for registration to C/MCR not later than thirty (30) days from the date of birth.

Any report made to the LCROs beyond the reglementary period are considered late and can be entered only in the civil register after the informant complies with the requirements for delayed registration.

 

DEFINITION OF TERMS

 

Live birth is the complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a conception, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, which, after such separation, breaths or shows any other evidence of life such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such birth is considered live born.

Legitimate child is a child who is born to parents who are married to each other. This means that their parents are legally recognized as being married and the child is considered to be their lawful child. A legitimate child has certain legal rights and privileges that an illegitimate child may not have.
