07 September 2024 – MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) successfully conducted the Third Quarter 2024 Inland Fisheries Survey (QIFS), from September 7 – 10, 2024. The PSA's authority and mandate to conduct this survey emanates from Republic Act 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which authorizes the PSA to prepare and conduct surveys and periodic censuses on various sectors of the economy.

QIFS is a fisheries subsector covering fishing operations in inland waters using vessels of three gross tons or less or without vessels. It gathers information on the volume and price of species caught by inland fishing households.

In Marinduque, there are 19 sample inland fishing households from barangays including Tumapon (Boac), Capayang and Silangan (Mogpog), Dating Bayan (Santa Cruz), and Suha (Torrijos). Accordingly, Three Statistical Researchers (SR) were hired to conduct personal interviews with the samples.

In relation to this, the sample inland fishing households are encouraged to participate in this nationwide undertaking by providing the accurate and necessary information.

PSA assures that SRs will follow strict health protocols while interacting with respondents. In accordance with Section 19 of Republic Act No. 10173, the “Data Privacy Act of 2012,” all collected information will be kept completely confidential.

Further, Section 26 of RA No. 10625 also stipulates that “individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses conducted by the PSA shall be considered privileged communication and as such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.”
