11 August 2025 – SAN TEODORO, ORIENTAL MINDORO. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro successfully conducted the presentation of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System Preliminary Results for the Municipality of San Teodoro on 11 August 2025 at the Mayor’s Conference Hall, Municipal Compound, San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro.
In her opening message, PSA Oriental Mindoro Officer-in-Charge Charlyn Romero-Cantos expressed gratitude for the community's support, particularly at the barangay level. She emphasized the importance of CBMS in providing accurate data to guide informed decision-making, targeted programs, and sustainable development planning.
OIC Cantos delivered an in-depth presentation on the preliminary findings of the 2024 CBMS for the municipality of San Teodoro. The report underscored critical socio-economic metrics, such as household-level access to electricity, utilization of clean energy sources for cooking, availability of basic water supply and sanitation infrastructure, and indicators related to food security.
In addition, map visualizations were presented to show the distribution of senior citizens living alone and households with at least one member with disability. The maps also highlighted the locations of evacuation centers and indicated how many households are situated within or beyond a one-kilometer buffer zone. Key data from barangay profiles were also shared, including details on garbage collection services, network signal coverage, and information relevant to Disaster Risk Reduction.
An open forum followed the presentation, during which local stakeholders actively engaged in discussions and raised pertinent questions. The forum served as an avenue for validating the CBMS findings, facilitating knowledge exchange, and identifying data-driven strategies for addressing localized development challenges through participatory and evidence-based planning.
In her closing remarks, Hon. Mayor Karen P. Miranda emphasized that the CBMS data has already identified those who are most in need of assistance, highlighting the importance of prioritizing the needs of the vulnerable sectors. She also reiterated the LGU’s commitment to institutionalizing the integration of CBMS data into local development planning processes and enhancing intergovernmental and multi-stakeholder coordination with barangays and relevant sectors.
The CBMS, implemented nationwide by government agencies and LGUs, strengthens data-driven governance. Feedback from the session will help finalize results that guide future local policies and programs.
