Religious Affiliation in Oriental Mindoro

Roman Catholic account for 80.5 percent of the household population
Of the 906,661 household population in 2020, four fifths or 730,229 persons (80.5 percent) reported Roman Catholic as their religious affiliation. This was followed by Iglesia Ni Cristo with 33,539 persons or 3.7 percent, and Seventh Day Adventist with 13, 077 persons with 1.4 percent. In 2015, the top three religion were Roman Catholic, including Catholic Charismatic, Evangelicals (Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches) and Iglesia Ni Cristo. Completing the top ten Religious Affiliations in 2020 in the province of Oriental Mindoro are Church of the Foursquare Gospel in the Philippines (1.1 percent), Church of Christ and Evangelical Christian Outreach Foundation (1.0 percent, each), Jesus is Lord Church (0.8 percent), Other Protestant and Bible Baptist Church (0.7 percent, each), and United Church of Christ in the Philippines (0.4 percent). Calapan City has the highest proportion of household population with Roman Catholic as religion
Of the 15 city/municipalities in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Calapan City posted the highest proportion of Roman Catholics comprising 88.7 percent of the household population. This was followed by Pola with 87.9 percent, Gloria with 86.8 percent, Naujan with 86.3 percent, Pinamalayan with 86.2 percent, Puerto Galera with 85.3 percent, and Socorro with 83.8 percent. (Table 2)
Barangay Tagumpay in Pola posts the highest proportion of Roman Catholics among barangays in Oriental Mindoro
Among the 426 barangays, Barangay Tagumpay in Pola registered the highest proportion of household population who reported Roman Catholic as their religious affiliation with 751 persons or 100.0 percent. This was followed by Puting Cacao, Pola with 99.8 percent, Paitan, Naujan with 99.6 percent, Maasin, Bulalacao with 99.1 percent, Calubasanhon, Pola with 99.0 percent, San Antonio, Puerto Galera with 98.7 percent, Zone I, Pola with 98.3 percent, San Agustin and Nagiba, Naujan with 97.9 percent, each and Bondoc, Calapan City with 97.6 percent. Below is the list of Barangays with at least 90.0 percent household population who reported Roman Catholic as their religious affiliation in the province (Table 3)
Bongabong with the highest proportion of Iglesia Ni Cristo as religion
Among the 15 city/municipalities, the Municipality of Bongabong had the highest proportion of household population who reported Iglesia Ni Cristo as their religious affiliation with 3,991 persons or 5.2 percent of its 76,876 household population. This was followed by Bansud with 2, 064 persons or 4.9 percent, and Naujan with 5,243 persons or 4.8 percent. (Table 4)
