During April to June 2025, the total volume of corn production in the MIMAROPA Region was estimated at 43,164 metric tons. Among provinces in the region, Occidental Mindoro’s corn production of 40,442 metric tons got the highest share of 93.7 percent in the regional production of corn. This was followed by the production in Palawan at 1,386 metric tons with a corresponding 3.2 percent share in the total corn production of the region. Meanwhile, the combined corn production from Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and Marinduque of 1,336 metric tons accounted for 3.2 percent share in the MIMAROPA’s total corn production. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

A total of 41,913 metric tons of corn produced in the MIMAROPA Region were yellow during the second quarter of 2025. This accounts for 97.1 percent of the total volume of corn production in the region. Yellow corns were predominantly produced in Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and Palawan with a corresponding share of 99.4 percent, 90.1 percent, and 60.3 percent, respectively to the total corn production in their respective province. (Figure 2 and Table 1)

Meanwhile, corns produced in Romblon and Marinduque were predominantly white which accounted to an estimated share of 67.9 percent and 62.8 percent, respectively in their provincial corn production. (Figure 2 and Table 1)
Volume of corn production goes up by 44.7 percent
MIMAROPA Region’s corn production of 43,164 metric tons during April to June 2025 was higher by 13,333 metric tons or 44.7 percent with respect to the regional production of 29,831 metric tons from the second quarter of 2024. Occidental Mindoro significantly contributed to the increase by 13,265 metric tons with a corresponding uptick of 48.8 percent in the provincial corn production from the same quarter of 2024. This was followed by 136 metric tons increase from Romblon (58.6%). (Figure 3 and Table 1)

During April to June 2025, the increase in the regional corn production was prominently observed on yellow corn. Yellow corns produced in the MIMAROPA Region went up significantly by 13,113 metric tons or 45.5 percent from 41,913 metric tons last second quarter of 2025 to 28,800 metric tons in the same quarter of 2024. The increase in production was mainly contributed by Occidental Mindoro (13,138 metric tons). (Figure 4 and Table 1)

Meanwhile, white corns produced within the region during the second quarter of 2025 was registered at 1,251 metric tons, a 21.4 percent increase relative to 1,031 metric tons recorded from the same quarter of the previous year. The increase was attributed to the increase in the production of white corns from Romblon (154 metric tons), and Occidental Mindoro (127 metric tons). (Figure 4 and Table 1)
Total corn area harvested expands by 10.4 percent
Total area harvested for all types of corn during April to June 2025 reached 7,910 hectares. Among provinces in the region, Occidental Mindoro recorded the largest area harvested at 6,975 hectares with 88.2 percent share to the regional area harvested. Meanwhile, the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and Marinduque had a combined estimated area harvested of 458 hectares or a corresponding 5.8 percent share to the regional area harvested. (Figure 5 and Table 2)

Compared to the region’s recorded harvested area of 7,165 hectares in the second quarter of 2024, the total area harvested of the region expand by 745 hectares or an increase of 10.4 percent. The posted expansion in area harvested was mainly contributed by the increase in area harvested from Occidental Mindoro (648 hectares). (Figure 5 and Table 2)
The increment in the area harvested was also contributed by the increase in the area harvested for yellow corns during April to June 2025. The 643-hectare increment in the area for yellow corns was mainly contributed by Occidental Mindoro with an increase of 629 hectares. (Figure 6 and Table 2)

Moreover, an increase in area was noted for white corns by 102 hectares. This was mainly contributed by Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro with an addition of 67 hectares, 39 hectares, and 20 hectares, respectively. (Figure 6 and Table 2)
Average corn yield registers at 5.46 metric tons per hectare
The annual average corn yield of the MIMAROPA Region during April to June 2025 was registered at 5.46 metric tons per hectare. Among provinces in the region, Occidental Mindoro exceeded the regional average yield at 5.80 metric tons per hectare. On the other hand, Romblon’s annual average yield of 2.61 metric tons per hectare posted the lowest average yield. (Figure 7 and Table 3)

With respect to the average palay yield during the second quarter of 2025, the regional average yield increased by 1.29 metric tons per hectare or 31.1 percent uptick. This was mainly contributed by Occidental Mindoro with 35.0 percent increase or 1.50 metric tons per hectares to its average yield. (Figure 7 and Table 3)
