Volume of chicken production up by 26.0 percent

The volume of chicken production from July to September 2024 in the MIMAROPA region was noted at 4,095 metric tons, liveweight. This indicates an annual increase of 26.0 percent from the 3,251 metric tons, liveweight output in the same quarter last year. This level of production was an increased from the 13.6 percent annual decrease in the same quarter in 2023. (Figure 1)

Among the five provinces in the region, Palawan was the leading producer of chicken, with 2,122 metric tons of liveweight, accounting for 51.8 percent of the total chicken production during the period. It was followed by Romblon, which produced 792 metric tons of liveweight, or 19.3 percent of the total. In contrast, Marinduque had the lowest production, with 152 metric tons of liveweight, making up 3.7 percent of the region’s total chicken production.

Chicken egg production down by 1.1 percent

From July to September 2024, the MIMAROPA region recorded a chicken egg production of 2,620 metric tons. This reflects a 1.1 percent decrease compared to the 2,650 metric tons produced during the same quarter last year. The current production level marks a decrease from the 10.2 percent growth observed in the same quarter of 2023. (Figure 2)

Oriental Mindoro is the top chicken egg producer among the five provinces in the region, contributing 986 metric tons or 37.7 percent of the total production for the reference quarter. Palawan ranked second with 836 metric tons, representing 31.9 percent of the total. Meanwhile, Marinduque had the lowest chicken egg production, with 64 metric tons accounting for 2.4 percent share.
 

Duck production increased by 9.1 percent

The volume of duck production from July to September 2024 in the MIMAROPA region was registered at 115 metric tons, liveweight. This indicates an annual growth rate of 9.1 percent from the same quarter of the previous year's level of 105 metric tons, liveweight. This level of production was a continuous recovery from the 1.8 percent increase observed in the same quarter in 2023. (Figure 3)

The top duck producer among the provinces in the region was Palawan, contributing 67 metric tons of liveweight, or 58.5 percent of the total duck production for the reference quarter. It was followed by Occidental Mindoro with 28 metric tons of liveweight, accounting for 23.9 percent of the total. Meanwhile, Marinduque recorded the least duck production, with 2 metric tons of liveweight, contributing only 1.9 percent of the total.
 
Volume of duck egg production rose by 17.5 percent

The volume of dug egg production from July to September 2024 in the MIMAROPA region was registered at 225 metric tons. This indicates an annual increase of 17.5 percent from the 192 metric tons output in the same period of 2023. This level of production was a continuous increase from the 4.4 percent annual increase in the same quarter in 2023. (Figure 4)

Of the five provinces in the region, Occidental Mindoro was the leading duck egg producer, with 138 metric tons or 61.4 percent of the total duck egg production during the period. Palawan placed second, producing 60 metric tons. In contrast, Romblon had the smallest production, with 1 metric ton equivalent to 0.3 percent of the region's total duck egg production.
