On 28 February 2024, the Provincial Statistical Office of Palawan has successfully turned over the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System Data to the municipalities of Balabac, Busuanga, Coron, Dumaran, El Nido, and Rizal through a Data Turnover Ceremony (DTC). It was led by PSA Regional Director Leni R. Rioflorido together with PSA Palawan Chief Statistical Specialist Maria Lalaine M. Rodriguez and Supervising Statistical Specialist Evelyn O. Apellido. Also present in the occasion to express their support were DICT Palawan Provincial Director Virgo N. Pinangay and DILG Palawan Program Manager Roel P. Dagsa. Representatives from the six receiving LGUs were Hon. Mayor Richard R. Herrera of Dumaran, Municipal Civil Registrar Abdulhizam Kalim of Balabac, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Marlo M. Dagomboy of Busuanga, MPDC Michael Adrian F. Fababeir of Coron, MPDC Daria Fadera Ebora of El Nido, and OIC- MPDO Mary Jane R. Celedonio of Rizal. Also present in the ceremony were representatives from the Provincial Planning and Development Office, Local Media, LGU and other PSA Staff.
RD Rioflorido started the event with a welcome message. PSA Undersecretary, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Claire Dennis S. Mapa expressed his appreciation through a recorded video message. Program Manager Dagsa of DILG and Provincial Director Pinangay of DICT delivered their congratulatory messages for the successful operation of 2022 CBMS and expressed full support for the 2024 CBMS undertaking. Palawan Provincial CBMS Focal Person Jesus Niño M. Sorima presented the highlights of the result of the 2022 CBMS of the six participating LGUs, correlating it to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The six LGUs simultaneously signed Data Turnover Agreements and were awarded CBMS Data tokens afterwards. Representatives from each LGU delivered acceptance messages, and the MPDCs presented plans and programs for utilizing the CBMS Data. SSS Apellido summarized the program's flow, and CSS Rodriguez concluded the event with closing remarks, soliciting support for the 2024 Integrated CBMS-Popcen operation.
