14 June 2024 – BARANGAY BAYUTI, BOAC, MARINDUQUE. Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) reiterates its commitment to inclusivity, as it diligently works to facilitate registrations for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) even in the most isolated barangays.

On June 10 - 12, 2024, the PhilSys Registration Team achieved a notable milestone by extending its services to Barangay Binunga, a secluded and remote barangay located in the interior part of the municipality of Boac, rendering a 100 percent coverage of all barangays in the said municipality.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that every Filipino, regardless of their location, has access to the national ID system, which aims to streamline government services and promote inclusive development. The three-day registration drive was specifically aimed to register children between the ages of 1 and 4 years old.

Aside from the registration services, the PhilSys Team facilitated the authentication of ePhilIDs/PhilIDs for DSWD 4Ps beneficiaries and carried out extensive information campaigns on the importance of PhilSys registration. These initiatives elucidated various functionalities of ePhilIDs and PhilIDs, emphasizing how these identification cards can streamline access to government services and facilitate everyday transactions.

During the three-day registration drive, the PhilSys team faced various challenges, such as difficult terrain and limited transportation options. Nevertheless, its unwavering commitment and perseverance ultimately led to the successful completion of the mission, resulted to successful registration of 202 individuals, including children aged 1 to 4 years old. Additionally, PhilSys personnel were able to authenticate 266 ePhilIDs of 4Ps beneficiaries and distributed 117 ePhilIDs.

Looking ahead, PSA Marinduque plans to continue this effort in other remote areas within the province, driven by the same commitment to inclusivity and service. The office aims to continue breaking down barriers, ensuring that every Filipino can benefit from the national ID system. The agency also plans to expand its information campaigns to further educate the public on the benefits of the PhilSys, fostering greater awareness and participation.

Pursuant to Sec 19 of Republic Act RA No. 10173, known as the “Data Privacy Act of 2012”, all information that will be gathered will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
