Occidental Mindoro’s Economy Records a 3.9 Percent Increase in 2023

The economy of Occidental Mindoro grew by 3.9 percent in 2023 from a 5.4 percent growth in the previous year. Despite the slowdown in growth, the economy continues to expand with an increase in the value of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from PhP 52.55 billion in 2022 to PhP 54.59 billion in 2023. (Figure 1)

Among the industries, the fastest growths were observed in Other services with 18.0 percent, followed by Accommodation and food service activities with 14.6 percent, and Electricity, steam, water and waste management with 13.9 percent. 

On the other hand, Manufacturing, Agriculture, forestry and fishing, and Mining and quarrying experienced contractions, declining by 7.6 percent, 3.7 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively. (Figure 2)
