WHEREAS, the Tourism Satellite Account is a standard statistical framework and the main tool for the economic measurement of tourism. It adopts the basic system of the System of National Accounts 2008 (SNA 2008), the international standard for a systematic summary of national economic activity from a functional perspective; 

WHEREAS, the Philippine Statistics Authority, in its effort to measure the contribution of tourism to the economy, approved the methodology for the 

Philippine Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) which aims to compile subnational TSA of selected regions in the country; 

WHEREAS, the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC), which serves as the policy making body and as a venue for the discussion and resolution of statistical issues at the provincial level, has requested the Regional Statistics Committee for the piloting of Palawan for the Provincial Satellite Account; 

WHEREAS, the Province of Palawan identifies ecotourism as one of its development directions, capitalizing on its competitive advantage being one of the premier tourist destinations in the country. Therefore, there is a need to measure the economic contribution of tourism in the province to provide basis for effective and efficient policy research and monitoring; 

WHEREAS, the Province of Palawan uses Tourlista (Tourism Live Inventory and Statistics of Tourist Arrivals) developed by the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Tourism to generate and monitor traveler’s distribution; 

WHEREAS, the Provincial Tourism Satellite Account will be useful in crafting the appropriate policy formulation and effective research solutions to sustain economic productivity and stability amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and natural calamities; 

NOW, THEREFORE, ON A MOTION DULY SECONDED, be it 

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, That the RSC MIMAROPA 

approves the formulation of the Provincial Tourism Satellite Account for the Province of Palawan; 

RESOLVED FINALLY, That all the concerned regional line agencies, local government units, and public and private higher education institutions, be copied with this resolution for information and support; 

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
