WHEREAS, Presidential Proclamation No. 647 declares the month of October of every year as National Statistics Month (NSM);

WHEREAS, the annual celebration of the NSM aims to (1) promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance of and value of statistics to the difference sectors of society and (2) to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country;

WHEREAS, one of the results of NSM is the conduct of the 2024 Regional Data Festival and 25th Student-Faculty Conference on Statistical Sciences (SFCon) to be held for a one-and-a-half-day event consisting of presentations and open discussions, expositions, games, and contests;

WHEREAS, the 2024 RDF with the theme “Harnessing the Power of Data and Statistics for a Future-Ready Filipino and Filipina Youth” aims to (1) instill an appreciation and enhance statistical literacy on official statistics among students; (2) enjoin the academe in the advocacy of statistics; (3) strengthen partnerships and foster collaboration with other government offices, civil society organizations, and the private sector; and (4) promote proper interpretation and use of official statistics among media practitioners;

WHEREAS, the 25th SFCon will (1) provide a collaborative platform for students and faculty members from various universities and educational institutions in the Philippines to present and discuss their research in theoretical statistics, applied statistics, and allied disciplines; and (2) emphasize the critical role of statistics in solving real-world problems and informing decision-making processes toward sustainable and inclusive development;

NOW, THEREFORE, ON A MOTION DULY SECONDED, be it 

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) MIMAROPA requests RSC members and non-RSC member academes to support and participate in the 2024 Regional Data Festival South Luzon Cluster and 25th Student-Faculty Conference on Statistical Sciences;

RESOLVED FINALLY, That copies of this resolution be furnished to all concerned;

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
