WHEREAS, RA No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act, Section 6 (i), PSA is mandated to coordinate with government departments and local government units (LGUs) on the promotion and adoption of statistical standards involving techniques, methodologies, concepts, definitions and classifications, and on the avoidance of duplication in the collection of statistical information.
WHEREAS, the Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) is a detailed classification of industries prevailing in the country according to the kind of productive activities undertaken by establishments;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) is a classification and coding of the geographical-political subdivisions of the country, such as the region, the province, the municipality/city and the barangay;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Standard Occupational Classification (PSOC) is a classification of the different occupations of the working population, including the military workforce of the country;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Standard Classification of Education (PSCED) is a detailed classification of all educational levels in the Philippine Educational System;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (PCOICOP) is a detailed classification of individual consumption expenditures on goods and services incurred by the three institutional sectors of the 1993 and 2008 System of National Accounts;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Central Product Classification (PCPC) is a standard classification of goods and services, including tangible assets based on their physical properties and intrinsic nature as well as industrial origin;
WHEREAS, the Philippine Standard Commodity Classification (PSCC) is a detailed classification of all commodities that enter the Philippine trade;
WHEREAS, the 2016 Philippine Tourism Statistical Classification System (PTSCS) is a detailed classification of tourism characteristic products and industries;
WHEREAS, the 11. PSA Board Resolution No. 18, Series of 2021, enjoins all concerned government agencies to support the nationwide adoption of the PSIC and the PSGC in the UBPAF, generation, and data sharing of comparable municipal-level industrial statistics from the Business Permit Licensing System (BPLS);
NOW, THEREFORE, ON A MOTION DULY SECONDED, be it
RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, That RSC MIMAROPA approves and supports the use of standardized statistical classifications promotes the efficient generation, sharing, and analysis of municipal-level data, supports evidence-based policymaking, strengthens local economic development planning, and facilitates the monitoring of business and industrial activities at the national and local levels.
RESOLVED FINALLY, that all agencies concerned be copied of this resolution for information and support.
