WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 10625 states that the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shall collect, compile, analyze, abstract, and publish statistical information relating to the country’s economic, social, demographic, and general activities and condition of the people;

WHEREAS, the Retail Price Survey (RPS) intends to collect retail prices and other relevant marketing information at various frequencies at pre-selected major trading centers throughout the country;

WHEREAS, the indicators which can be derived from the results of the RPS are the consumer price index (CPI), inflation rate, and purchasing power of peso (PPP);

WHEREAS, the CPI is a measure of the change in the average prices of a fixed basket of goods and services commonly purchased by households relative to a base year;

WHEREAS, the market basket is a sample of goods and services, which is meant to represent the totality of all the goods and services purchased by households relative to a base year;

WHEREAS, the inflation rate is the annual rate of change or the year-on-year change in the CPI;

WHEREAS, the PPP is a measure of the real value of the peso in a given period relative to a chosen reference period;

WHEREAS, in 2025, the PSA will conduct a monthly press conference via virtual or hybrid setup to disseminate regional and provincial level statistics on inflation, which is a highlighted and closely monitored indicator in today’s economic setting;

NOW, THEREFORE, ON A MOTION DULY SECONDED, be it

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, That the RLAs, LGUs, and private sectors in the MIMAROPA Region will support the conduct of the monthly press conference on inflation.

RESOLVED FINALLY, that all entities concerned be copied of this resolution for information and support.
